A Creative Writing Assignment
So here’s a creative writing assignment I recently issued to my class.
Students were given 4 minutes to write an eight line poem about some topic (of my choosing) related to the Christmas season. The rules were simple.
#1) Write down the first thing that comes to your mind.
#2) No erasing!
The topic I gave my first period class was “food”.
Here’s what I came up with.
Fruit cakes are SOOOO stinkin’ gross.
Me buy one of those things?
Man, I wouldn’t even come close!
For $5.95 you get a jello-ed block of fruit…
but hear me straight up,
Yo! That stuff be makin’ me toot!
So don’t waste your money and don’t waste your day,
because I would rather be eating at the local Chick-Fil-A!
