Are Your Friends Leaves, Branches, or Roots?
Can I be honest about two things?
- I really don’t have many CLOSE friends.
- And, I’m a big fan of Tyler Perry and ALL his work.
I know what you’re thinking. This is the most stupidest list ever! Don’t check out yet! Hang with me for a minute more!
The reason I don’t have many close friends is because, well…
- I’m a guy. And in general guys are dumb when it comes to relationships, especially bromances.
- I chose not to open myself to many people because…well, I guess I don’t want to. Maybe I’ve encountered too many leaves and branches. (You’ll have to view the clip below to completely comprehend that last reference.)
- I tend to distance myself from other people when I sense they are getting “too close.”
I’m a big fan of Tyler Perry, his television shows, plays, and movies because they
- are HILARIOUS,
- provide situational comedy that is often reflective of daily life experiences, but play to the more HUMOROUS side of the situation,
- and many times they are laced with some serious life lessons.
Recently, I saw this clip on YouTube (fast forward to the 5:42 mark and watch until the 7:38 mark, unless you want to watch the whole clip).
Tyler Perry’s character, Madea, is giving relationship advice and straight preaching about the choices of people one surrounds themself.
Check out this clip and let me know what you think.
So, are your friends leaves, branches, or roots? As the remaining leaves fall to the ground is it time your removed them from your presence? Do you need a high powered leaf blower, or a rake and 50 gallon trash bag to remove them from your property? Or do you need to call in the professional to remove the dead and withering branches that may crack, break, and fall, and cause property damage?
Maybe a better question is, what kind of friend am I? But that’s for a later post…
Give your roots a shout-out! Who is that one person (or maybe 3 people) that don’t waiver with the wind, or leave you hanging? Tell me who they are and what makes them a root.
